When we showed the new Pistol Aiming Light (PAiL) by LaserMax Defense for the M17/18 Modular Handgun System, there was a lot of concern about there not being a holster for the PAiL equipped pistol.

This project was sponsored by the Rapid Response Technology Office of the Office of the Secretary of Defense (RRTO/OSD), NSWC, and the US Special Operations Command (USSOCOM).
As soon as April, soldiers could be getting a full sidearm kit complete with the Army’s newest M17 handgun, along with a new “pistol enhancer” and holster built to fit the device.
17 January 2019, Rochester, NY. The US Army has selected the LMD Pistol Enhancer for its M17 pistol. The LMD Pistol Enhancer features a near-infrared illuminator, a near-infrared laser, and a white light illuminator. The initial order is for more than 20,000 LMD Pistol Enhancers to be delivered in 2019. Sales to Army will be listed on GSA and available through FedMall and prime vendors. The Pistol Enhancer will also be available to other government customers (military and law enforcement).
18 December 2018 (Rochester, NY) LaserMax, Inc., has changed its corporate name to LMD Power of Light Corp. LMD Power of Light Corp. is a Delaware C-Corp operating its manufacturing plant in Upstate NY under the trade name LaserMaxDefense (“LMD”).
01 November 2018 (Rochester, NY) Dr. Brian L. Olmsted has been named Chief Scientist at LaserMaxDefense (“LMD”). Dr. Olmsted has served in many roles at LMD and has most recently led the beacon development programs for USSOCOM, the Pistol Enhancer project for US Army, and several other successful contracts based on quantum cascade laser (QCL) technology. He leads the new technology development effort at LMD and is inventor on over one dozen patents, with several more pending.
30 September 2018 (Rochester, NY) LaserMaxDefense (“LMD”) has completed delivery of helmet-mounted, air-to-ground beacons to the US Special Operations Command. These life-saving beacons are designed for use in Joint Terminal Attack Control (JTAC), Combat Search and Rescue (CSAR), and Identification of Friend or Foe (IFF).
