LMD Power of Light Corp., doing business as LaserMaxDefense (“LMD”), has over three decades of experience in mission-critical defense, combat, and adverse environment product design, development, and delivery.

Our mission is simple: deliver innovative, rugged, quality products, when and where you need them. LMD specializes in custom OEM, mechanical, optical, and photonics subassemblies for applications in medical technologies, aerospace, security and defense, and semiconductor manufacturing equipment.

Leadership

LMD Power of Light leadership directed the production of more than one million lasers for law enforcement, military, and personal protection applications and recently divested its LaserMax commercial product lines to focus on innovative solutions manufacturing.

LMD specializes in miniaturizing and hardening laser and optical systems for use in adverse environments and is the leading manufacturer of quantum cascade laser-based equipment for the US military. LMD also serves other government customers, law enforcement, and delivers advanced OEM solutions for defense and aerospace, and other industries.

CEO and Co-Founder of LMD

Susan Houde-Walter, Ph.D.

CEO and founder of LMD, Dr. Houde-Walter held previous roles as the co-founder and CEO of LaserMax, Inc, President of the Optical Society, and the first female tenured Professor of Optics from the University of Rochester.

She has published and patented extensively in the field of optoelectronics and optical materials engineering and serves on various technical, executive, and scientific advisory boards. Dr. Houde-Walter was named 2017 Entrepreneur of the Year by New York Photonics, recognized by the National Women’s Hall of Fame in 2018, is the Rochester Engineering Society 2019 Engineer of the Year, and received the 2020 Distinguished Service Award for her service to the Optical Society, a professional society with 23,000 members and a legacy of 38 Nobel Laureates.

ADM Eric T. Olson, USN (ret.)

Eric T. Olson retired from the US Navy in 2011 as a full Admiral after more than 38 years of service in special operations. He was decorated for valor and leadership and was the first Navy SEAL to be promoted to three- and four-star ranks. He headed the US Special Operations Command, where he was responsible for the mission readiness of all special operations forces, leading over 60,000 people and managing an annual budget in excess of ten billion dollars. He is now an Adjunct Professor in the School of International and Public Affairs at Columbia University. In addition to serving on the Board for LMD Power of Light Corp., ADM Olson has served on boards including Iridium Comm., Inc., Under Armour, Inc., Boeing, Next Century Corp., the non-profit Special Operations Warrior Foundation, and National Navy UDT-SEAL Museum.

Stephen C. McCluski

Mr. McCluski served in many executive capacities at Bausch & Lomb Incorporated and its subsidiaries, culminating in Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, prior to his retirement, as well as a director of Indevus Pharmaceuticals, Inc. In addition to his Board duties with LMD Power of Light Corp., Mr. McCluski is also Chairman of the Board of Directors at Immunogen, Inc., and American Aerogel, a privately-held, Rochester-based company, and is on the Board of Standard Microsystems Corporation, the James P. Wilmot Cancer Center of the University of Rochester, and Deltapointe Capital.
